Team members will work with customers in the store and also develop proficiency in receiving material drop-offs and/or salvaging materials in the field.

Typical store work functions:
Helping customers find and choose appropriate materials
Loading/unloading of materials
Stocking and merchandising of incoming materials

Field Crew Functions
-Loading/unloading and handling heavy and delicate materials, maintaining them in marketable condition
-Maintaining safe conditions on job sites and during transport
-Maintaining clear, professional communication with clients and fellow team members
-Providing excellent customer service to further our mission of materials reuse
-Working with the team to continually learn and improve

Receiving Functions
-Negotiate terms of material acceptance from drop-off suppliers
-Appropriately price materials
-Describe and photograph materials for website posting

General Position Functions
-Working within a team and independently
-Maintaining a safe and organized work environment
-Weekend work included, typically work weeks are 4 ten-hour days

An ideal candidate will have these qualifications:
-Be a self-motivated and reliable worker
-Enthusiasm for a safe work environment
-Passion for salvage and reuse
-Willing/able to put in a full 10-hour day at 100%
-Must be able to lift 75 lbs and move heavy materials on a frequent, repeated basis
-Clean driving record
-Experience with the building trades, truck driving, and knowledge of building materials would be helpful

Second Use is looking for a Buyer/Receiver. This position focuses on negotiation with suppliers for acquisition of suitable materials, on preparing and pricing materials for sale in our store, describing and photographing materials for our website.

Receiving Functions
-Provide friendly and professional customer service to our suppliers (homeowners, contractors, junk haulers, etc.)
-Negotiate acceptance of materials suitable for our store and appropriate financial terms
-Physically unload and move a wide range of materials from customer vehicles into store and through the receiving process
-Assign appropriate prices and descriptions to incoming materials
-Complete detailed documentation on all transactions in a computer database
-Clean and prep materials for merchandising
-Maintain work areas in safe and clean condition
-Typically work four, ten-hour days, including some weekend work
-Crossover work in other parts of the business, such as receiving, warehouse and customer service, to help with overall business needs.

JOB DESCRIPTION
This position will cross over between our yard crew and salvage crew.

Salvage Crew Description
-Using tools to remove materials from our clients homes and structures
-Driving trucks (a clean driving record is required; no CDL necessary)
-Picking up materials and delivering them safely back to the store
-Working within a team to accomplish small and large jobs each day
-Professional interaction with clients

Yard Crew Description:
-Provide great customer service to our diverse customer base (bargain hunters, DIY’ers, designers and builders)
-Loading building materials into our customers’ vehicles
-Working with your team to restock the store throughout the day
-Potential for learning and advancement
-Working within a team and independently
-Maintaining a safe and organized work environment

An ideal candidate will have these qualifications:
-Clean driving record
-Must be a self-motivated and reliable worker
-Enthusiasm for a safe work environment
-Must be a hard worker willing to put in a full day at 100%
-Must be able to lift 75 lbs all day long
-Experience moving heavy materials
-Experience working in the building trades
-Knowledge of building materials

Weekend work included, work weeks are currently (5) eight-hour days but may become (4) ten-hour days in the future
